Onisxi's Guide to GCW PvP Events (1)

Hello, my name is Onisxi. I have already hosted four Galactic Civil War Player vs. Player events in my city and I want to share my knowledge with the rest of the events community. First off, you need to know that PvP event needs to be properly planned with the right players, storyteller items, and location. You wouldn't have a PvP battle inside the Kunga cave on Dantooine, but you would have one in the outskirts of Tatooine, the outskirts of Naboo, a player city, or an area where there is lots of swamp and trees like Rori. Dathomir and Endor make nice locations.

Here are some tips getting you started.

Selecting a Location

Decide whether you want to have an all-out battle in the outskirts, battle to take control of a place of interest like the Tusken Fortress, or to take control of a player city. Once decided, plan a date for the event (a day like Friday or weekends when everyone is on) and spread the word!

How to Spread the Word

There are many ways to spread the word for your event:

  • Guild chat (make sure it's okay with the guild leader)
  • In-game /yells or /shouts
  • Tells
  • Mail
  • Ventrilo/Teamspeak
  • Your server forums

Once you have spread the word, you should get some people participating in your event. You need to balance out both factions for the event.

How to Balance Factions for Your Event

I balance factions for my PvP events by making a sign up sheet for one Imperial and Rebellion group. They can only bring a few friends for back up. Make sure each faction has its own troops. Give each faction a starting point for each faction (like bases you can infiltrate).

Storyteller Troops

I buy about 20 Rebel commandos, 20 Imperial stormtroopers, 5 Wookiee freedom fighters, and 5 dark troopers for my events. Each side has 20 regular troops and 5 special troops. To make things interesting, I buy 10 super battle droids, 3 Acklays, and 5 Black Suns. I spread them out throughout the city. Next, you need storyteller props.

Storyteller Props

I give storyteller props for each faction. For Imperials, I buy AT-AT's, AT-ST's, Lambada Shuttle, and Imperial guard flavor NPC's. For Rebels, I buy X-wing props, destroyed transports, and communication antennas. I set up each prop by the base of the faction it's for. Next, you have to set up your event.

Requesting Event Support

SOE Online Events Manager Pex can help you with your event. He can turn into a character and play with him for your event (i.e Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, The Emperor, Chewbacca) but he can only be one! Pex can also spawn NPCs like Dark/Light Jedi sentinels, grauls, rancors, anything that's in the game. Pex can also make an Imperial/Rebel raid on your event. To see what days Pex has available for event support, go to the web site.
